Cosmetic Dentistry

Porcelain Veneers are a fantastic way to repair or enhance the appearance of front teeth. They can be used to whiten teeth, close spaces and create a great smile. Using veneers, we can even perform virtually "instant orthodontics" to straighten crooked teeth and give you the bright smile you always wanted.

  • Reduce or eliminate spaces between the teeth (Diastemas)
  • Repair broken or chipped teeth
  • Whiten dark, yellow, permanently-stained or discolored teeth
  • Correct misshapen or crooked teeth
  • Other Cosmetic Services . . .
    • Bleaching
    • Bonding
    • Sealants
    • Teeth Whitening

Dental Implants

Dental implants serve as the base for many tooth-replacement options, including bridges, dentures and individual artificial teeth. Implants are surgically implanted in the jaw to provide a comfortable, secure fit and a natural look.

In the first one or two appointments, the post or anchor is implanted in the jaw. The replacement tooth, bridge or denture is fitted and installed when the bone and gums have healed. Surgery may be performed in the office with local anesthesia.

Restorative Dentistry

For most fillings on back teeth we use a natural looking, cosmetic resin. This is a strong, resin material that is easy to apply and difficult to detect. This material produces a long lasting, natural looking filling.

When the size of a cavity is too large for this material, we are then able to use ceramic, tooth colored crowns or onlays. These restorations are made in 2 visits to the office and are also a durable, cosmetic solution.

Endodontics (Root Canal Therapy)

Endodontics is the area of dentistry dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disorders of the dental pulp. The most common endodontic procedure is the root canal, although endodontists also perform procedures to correct cracked and split teeth, re-treat previous procedures that have not healed properly, and diagnose oral and facial pain.

Root canals are necessary when tooth decay or the pulp (soft core of the tooth that provides nutrients) is damaged due to bacterial infection in a deep cavity, crack or other problem. Despite its reputation as a painful ordeal, a root canal is actually not very uncomfortable. During the procedure, the damaged pulp is removed, the root canal is cleaned and sealed off, and a crown is bonded to the tooth to maintain strength.

Prosthodontics (Dentures & Partials)

Injury, disease, congenital defects, joint and sleep disorders, neglect, and years of day-to-day wear can all cause significant damage and require the complete or partial removal of our teeth. Prosthodontics is a subspecialty of dentistry that focuses on the restoration and replacement of missing or damaged teeth and other oral tissues to maintain health, function and aesthetics. Stained, chipped, worn, broken or missing teeth can be restored to their natural appearance so you can continue to enjoy a beautiful smile. Replacements include crowns, bridges, veneers, inlays, dental implants, and complete and removable partial dentures.

Periodontal Treatment

Periodontal or gum disease is an infection of the tissues that surround and support your teeth. It is a leading cause of tooth loss in American adults. When left on the teeth, plaque, the sticky film of bacteria that is brushed and flossed away with proper oral care, produces toxins that attack below the gum line in the sulcus (a shallow v-shaped crevice between the tooth and gums), causing the bond between teeth and gums to break down. In the early stage of gum disease (gingivitis), gums may become red and swollen and bleed easily; in the more advanced stage (periodontal disease), teeth can loosen and even fall out. Good oral hygiene and regular dental examinations are essential in prevention and early detection of gum disease - especially since you can have it without experiencing any warning signs.

Signs that you may have gum disease include:

  • Gums that are red, swollen, tender, bleed easily or have pulled away from the teeth
  • Persistent bad breath or bad taste
  • Loose or separating teeth
  • A change in the way your teeth fit together
  • A change in the fit of partial dentures

Your risk of developing gum disease may relate to the following habits and conditions:

  • Tobacco smoking or chewing
  • Systemic diseases such as diabetes
  • Medications such as steroids, anti-epilepsy drugs, cancer therapy drugs and calcium channel blockers
  • Pregnancy
  • Crooked teeth

TMJ (Jaw Pain Relief) Therapy

Chronic facial pain -- pain in or around the ear, tender jaw, clicking or popping noises when opening the mouth, headaches and neck aches -- may arise from many easily identifiable and treatable causes, including a sinus infection, tooth decay or gum disease. But sometimes the source is more elusive . and it may be TMD, a group of often painful disorders affecting the jaw and chewing muscles, which may ache constantly, cyclically or erratically. Although there are many causes of TMD, the common ones include:

  • Trauma to the head or neck
  • Oral habits such as clenching or grinding of the teeth
  • "Bad" bite or missing teeth
  • Arthritis
  • Malalignment of the upper and lower jawbones

The "Bite Discluder" is the latest approach to successful treatment of these problems. It is simple and effective.
